How to Make the Perfect Cup of Genmaicha 🍵🍚✨
A soothing blend of Japanese green tea, roasted rice, and matcha—Genmaicha is comforting, nutty, and slightly sweet. Here’s how to enjoy it at its best.
Ingredients:
2–3g (1 tsp) Genmaicha powder
150–200ml (5–7 oz) hot water (80°C / 176°F – not boiling)
Tools Needed:
✔ Teacup or small bowl
✔ Small whisk, frother, or spoon
✔ Sifter (optional, for a smoother finish)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Measure Your Genmaicha
Sift 2–3g (1 tsp) of Genmaicha powder into your cup to avoid clumps.
2. Add Hot Water
Pour 150–200ml (5–7 oz) of hot water heated to about 80°C (176°F).
Avoid boiling water, which can make green tea taste overly sharp.
3. Whisk or Stir
Use a small whisk, frother, or spoon to mix until fully dissolved and smooth.
No foam is needed—Genmaicha is meant to be smooth and toasty, not frothy like matcha.
4. Sip & Enjoy
Take a mindful pause and enjoy the warm, nutty aroma and slightly sweet finish.
Perfect for afternoon breaks or a cozy evening ritual.
🌱 Tips for the Perfect Genmaicha:
Use fresh, filtered water for the cleanest flavor.
Adjust tea-to-water ratio depending on your taste preference.
Try it with warm milk for a nutty, comforting latte twist.
🍃 Fun Genmaicha Fact:
Genmaicha is sometimes called “the people’s tea” in Japan—originally created by mixing roasted rice with green tea to make it more affordable. Today, it’s loved for its unique, toasty flavor and calming qualities.
