How to Make Hojicha (Roasted Green Tea) ☕✨

A cosy, roasted tea perfect for any time of day—especially when you want a soothing, low-caffeine option.

Ingredients:

1–2 teaspoons (2–3g) hojicha powder (like Organic Roasted Green Tea Powder)
70–80ml (2–3 oz) hot water (around 80°C / 176°F)
Optional: Sweetener (honey, maple syrup) or milk for a latte
Tools Needed:

✔ Matcha bowl or small mixing cup
✔ Bamboo whisk (chasen) or small regular whisk
✔ Sifter (optional, for smooth consistency)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Warm Your Tools
Pour some hot water into your matcha bowl to warm it up.
Soak your whisk in warm water for 1–2 minutes to soften the bristles and prevent damage.
2. Sift the Hojicha Powder
Sift 1–2 teaspoons (2–3g) of hojicha powder into the bowl to avoid clumps.
3. Add Hot Water
Pour 70–80ml (2–3 oz) of hot water (around 80°C / 176°F) into the bowl over the sifted hojicha powder. Avoid boiling water as it can make the flavor too bitter.
4. Whisk to Perfection
Using your bamboo whisk (or regular whisk), whisk the mixture in a W or M motion until smooth and frothy. The goal is to create a silky texture, not a foam like matcha.
